Delta de Paraná + San Isidro

Last weekend I jumped on a train and went to the Delta de Paraná, about 1 hour to the north of Buenos Aires, and stopped off at San Isidro on the way. It was so interesting to see the Delta lifestyle; only boats, no roads. Many Porteños either rent or own one of the many beautiful stilted houses here, which they use as a weekend retreat from the noise, pollution and chaos of the city. I can understand why! I even met a man that commutes into the city every day for work! The place is so tranquil and simply beautiful.

San Isidro is pretty town overlooking the River Place, with cobbled streets lined with many kinds of trees; lime, palm, those studded with huge thorns bearing green chilli-like fruit.

Well click here for some further images of Buenos Aires. (N.B.: If you view the slideshow you won't get to see the descriptions.) They include various parts of town including San Telmo, the ecological reserve between the port and the River Plate, the financial district, etc. There are numerous photos of La Boca, of both the touristy part (the only part tourists are recommended to visit; for safety reasons); which painted in sickly bright colours and full of expensive restaurants and street performers belies the poverty of the district; and of the residential parts surrounding the Boca Juniors football grounds, where our local friend Sebastian took 6 of us to a match, Boca Juniors vs Quilmes. Click here for the video of the crowds 'chanting' abuse to the opponents from the first division. If you look carefully at the members box you'll see the 'Hand of God' waving to 'us' Boca fans!
